A simple digital depth sounder displays historical data, which may show the depth of the water bottom 10 to 15 seconds ago. This means that the depth sounder will only display the underwater situation after the ship has sailed 100 meters away. The 2D depth gauge indicates the average water depth within the fan-shaped area in front of the ship, which can more accurately reflect the underwater situation of the ship.

Standard or professional sensors?
If you choose EchoPit 2D, then the rest is to choose a suitable sensor. Our professional sensors are equipped with 2 "BSP copper fittings that run through the hull and 3" usable wires, making them particularly suitable for larger vessels. The standard sensor is equipped with a 1 "available cable, and most flat bottomed GRP vessels can use the standard sensor.

If the hull is thick or the bottom slope of the hull is large, wedges or pads are needed to keep the sensor vertical, then professional sensors will be your best choice.
